The latest adidas Originals by Bristol Studios collection takes inspiration from creative director, Luke Tadashi’s summers in Venice Beachm“As kids, my two best friends - MAASAI and London - and I would ride our bikes through Venice to hoop with the adults on Venice Beach. We’d do this practically every day in the summer - it was our ritual. This collection recaptures that time in our youth.” Luke Tadashi, Creative Director
Luke speaks of the collection inspiration ‘The capsule consists of a track jacket, snap pants, hoodie, t-shirt, and 3⁄4 length shorts. On the footwear side there is a new BYW LVL II sneaker and slides. The color story takes inspiration from the colors we would see on our bike rides through Venice - colorful, but muted tones. We shot everything on-location, retracing the bike route we took as kids to the courts on the beach. The collection is modeled by the 3 of us - Luke Tadashi, MAASAI Ephriam, and London Perrantes - and 3 kids (intended to be younger versions of ourselves). The young kids who modeled the collection are all family, related to either Luke, MAASAI or London.’
Track Jacket – We went into adidas’ archives and pulled the 3-stripe blocking from some classic pieces of theirs. Simultaneously, we looked forward by creating the first ever 3-stripe trim of its kind along the sleeves. These 3-stripes were created from threading a zig-zag stitch over PVC trim.
