AFEW X Asics Gel-Lyte™ III “Beauty of Imperfection”

Following the successful release of the “Red Koi” and the “Orange Koi” comes another new chapter. After the Koi was voted as the best Gel Lyte III ever, we had the opportunity to work on another project with ASICS. AFEW could collect 13000€ for children and youth hospice Regenbogenland through the 1-of-1 Gel-Lyte III. In addition to the 1-of-1 AFEW x ASICS GEL-LYTE™ III “Beauty of Imperfection CP 1/1”, AFEW have created the AFEW x ASICS GEL-LYTE™ III . The inspiration is also found in the Wabi-Sabi Philosophy and is reflected in the tear-away upper.
The upper is kept in beige while the heel stands out in purple. While the stripes on the outside consist of a green “Wear Away Upper”, the stripes on the inside of the foot are only indicated by purple stitching. The Asics Tiger Stripes from the “Wear Away Upper” change color from green to pink when worn.
The Wabi-Sabi Philosophy and design of the AFEW x ASICS GEL-LYTE™ III B.O.I. aims for the simplicity and honesty found in the beauty of imperfection. Through the “Wear Away Upper”, each shoe is unique and changes its pattern. Everything changes its structure, color, and texture over time. This beauty of imperfection is not only part of the Wabi-Sabi Philosophy, but the most important part of our everyday lives. Everything does not always have to be new and flawless, because uniqueness distinguishes us.
