Angelo Baque has seen many a milestone in his storied career — he’s the founder of Awake NY, the former brand director of Supreme and an OG member of the Nom de Guerre family — but now he’s adding to his resume by collaborating with ASICS on the Gel-Kayano 14. Though Awake NY worked with ASICS on two Gel-Lite 5 360s in 2019 and a Gel-Prelus in 2020, this collaboration is different in that it’s from Baque directly, not his brand.
Gray mesh and sleek metallic silver overlays present a base that’s sure to be familar to any ASICS fan, but Baque quickly ramps up the shoe’s vibrance by adding bright blue on the mudguard and around the midfoot’s Tiger Stripe, a dash of burnt orange towards the heel and canary yellow on the midsole. The lateral heel also features his full name, spelled out in a flowing font that’s similar to Awake’s signature motif. Ocean blue GEL cushioning in the heel and forefoot provides a finishing dash of style.
