Under the guise of brand consultant and designer Gary Aspden since its inception in 2016, Spezial has garnered a loyal following thanks to its dedication to updating and reworking adidas garments and footwear of years gone by.
For its Pre-Spring collection, things are no different. Aspden once again hones in on timeless and functional details from the adidas archives, to deftly reinterpret military aesthetics and outdoors-y details through a unique Spezial lens.
The Barrowland Jacket leads the way when it comes to outerwear, drawing inspiration from the classic Horwich anorak from Spring/Summer 2017.
Footwear is as high on the agenda as ever this season too, with five styles arriving across four unique silhouettes. The Moscrop SPZL — a completely reworked winterized shoe — takes notes from the archival Raider silhouette and comprises a technical Cordura and suede upper.
he Lothertex SPZL — a techy take on the Lotherton — boasts a water-repellent leather upper, gusset tongue and the same adi-TEX coating.
The Carnforth SPZL and two iterations of the Barrowland SPZL round out footwear this season. The former is a seasonal take on a hybrid leisure shoe, while the latter is a brand new silhouette with a classic terrace flat look, with fresh suede uppers and matching gum outsoles.
The collection is completed with a Mod Trefoil Crew, a style statement for adidas SPEZIAL fans and the Anderson top, a nod to vintage military silhouettes.
